The arrival of the Sealed Knot to a local show enabled me to obtain some images of a battle with a difference. I wanted to get images of cavalry attacking and harrasing the formations of pike and musket, and to convey the feel of an english civil war battle.
The following images just some taken for that self assignment.

All the following images taken with hand held 500mm set at f5.7 on Kodak EBX100. Shutter speeds ranging from 1/60th to 1/125th. Images taken from seated ground position on the crowd line, with lens support via the side of wooden stake; to allow fast tracking (I prefere this, rather than battle with monopods or tripods at these events). The day was overcast with the odd break in the clouds to allow sun to show. Using 'black powder' weapons has the down side of creating large amounts of white smoke, which as the hour long battle progresses forms a blue white haze to contend with or 'Fog of War if you rather.
